This won't be much of a build thread, but just a place for me to showcase my car and have relevant discussions.

I had a 2014 GTI for a little while until stupidity on my part led to a crash. Frame damage, and I settled on a 3rd gen Mazda 3. I liked how it handled but not how it rode on the highway. Even with a lot of sound deadening and a poly transmission mount, it wasn't what I wanted it to be and probably would have never been.

I found a low mileage (68k) 2007 GTI and I pounced on it shortly after I sold the Mazda 3. Loving every mile so far. It's not perfect but I could have certainly done worse.

Specs:
2007 GTI
6 speed manual
4 doors
1 sunroof
United grey, plaid seats

Mods (in approximate order of installation):
1. Neuspeed intake
2. Autotech/Sachs monotube shocks, VWR springs
3. South Bend Stage 2 Daily Clutch and SMF
4. Torque Solutions 75A engine and transmission mounts
5. Neuspeed short shifter
6. Integrated Engineering shifter cable linkage billet bushings
7. HPA orange puck
8. Neuspeed charge pipe with noise pipe delete
9. Fluidampr
10. Eurosport Accessories catback

Future mods
1. UM Stage 1 tune

That's about it. I'm a pretty tame driver, as in outright speed in itself isn't the most important thing. As it stands now, I'm just as fast in a straight line as a stock mk5. However, I have a greater sense of control and connectedness thanks to the upgraded mounts, stiffer suspension, and the lightweight flywheel. Let's see where I'll be by this year's end.
