I know, I know...another brake thread. I'm looking to move away from my stock set-up before the beginning of the next track season.

I'm really not looking for much larger rotors (car weight is around 3,000 now), but I'm more focused on weight reduction and brake modulation improvement. Of course, cost is a consideration.

After extensive research, I've pretty much narrowed it down to the following selections.

996T http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_V--2.0T/Braking/Performance/ES257483/

Wilwood http://www.wilwood.com/BrakeKits/BrakeKitSearch.aspx?year=2008&make=Volkswagen&model=GTI&option=All&axle=Front+Kit

Does anyone have input and/or experience with these set-ups?

I think pad selection might be one of the big driving issues.

PM cruizin01, I bought my 17z from him.
Hes had experience with a couple of different brake setups.

17z is overkill, I would say 996T
