I currently have a 300D with kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8
I found an XTi which is a 400D I think for $425 with the kit lens, I was wondering if this is a good pick up? He is even interested in a trade + cash on my end obviously.

Nothing is but i want to upgrade, a lot of people on vortex said it would be a good idea

For that amount of cash, I'd look into a XXd type camera. Better upgrade path. Just hang on to what you got if nothing is wrong and look for a better deal. I'd keep the nifty fifty too.

I was planning on keeping the nifty fifty, I love it just ordered a hood for it. I am not a member there, I'll check into it, thanks!

Also what are some of the main differences between XXD and XXXD?

I sold my mint condition rebel xti with kit lens for $400, and that was over a year ago.

If you want to upgrade, go for a 40D or 50D.

Or better yet, get a new lens instead with the money.

I just sold my xsi for $300.00 and it has a battery grip, strap, 8gb memory card, kit lens, lens hood, battery charger and treated was like a baby. Now THATS a good deal. :) Plus I have 4 other dslr's.... 3 in which I need to sell.
