2009 GTI Air Filter

I'm coming up on 40k miles and need to replace the air filter in my 100% stock 2009 GTI. 2 questions:

1. Which air filter do you recommend?
2. Stupid question, but how do you do it? No mention of it in the manual. I found a DIY on Vortex for the FSI, but I'm pretty sure it's different for the TSI engine. I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks

Nope, no plans to upgrade so I'll go with the K&N. Is it just a drop in replacement that'll take 2 minutes? The FSI looks like a bitch based off the DIY but I think the TSI is easier, correct?

The TSI is pretty easy to change. You just unscrew the screws that hold on the top of the stock air box, disconnect the air pump hose (If you have the CFBA motor) and then you can open the stock box. Remove the old filter, put in the new one, and put everything back together. I have a K&N drop in for sale on the FS forum
