Quality of tune vs proximity to tuner?

Hi all, I am trying to choose between what I think will be a better tune (United Motorsports, with adjustments made for my Neuspeed intake) at a tuner 45 mins away (without traffic) versus a APR dealer 15 minutes down the road that's open on Saturdays.

I don't plan on doing anything crazy, just a basic stage 1 tune.

How much does proximity to a specific tuner matter to you guys when selecting your tune?

These days couldn’t you just rent the tool to flash the files yourself? Or do they no longer offer such a convinient service. Yeah driving outta the way for a 600$ file is extreme, good files/ quality work comes at a serious price.

Just looked and United Motorsports website. Never heard of them, but they do a ECU tune and DSG tune combo for $500. This might be worth it, I love my APR tune but the DSG acts up between shifts sometimes. If you are DSG I would recommend you get that done also, and UM has it at a good price.
