Worn synchro on 6th or bad linkage adjustment?

Hey folks!

I think I unfortunately have a dead synchro on the 6th gear, that seem a bit odd given you never downshift in it.

Symptoms are the following, when accelerating hard in 2, 3, 4th then going directly in 6th it grinds. When putting the gearbox in neutral (clutch released) and revving it to 5k RPM, then to 6th (with clutch in obviously), it grinds.

When doing the same in 5th it's hard to shift but it doesn't grind. When going from 5 to 6 at whatever speed, it doesn't grinds and shift easy (but they are close in RPM).

My question is: can a bad linkage adjustment/bad bushing AND a good synchro cause a grinding or anyway the grinding is there because the synchro is already worn out?
