Where is this paradise?

Where in the world is a coastal town/city, relatively affordable, with good sailing and an active sailing community, or at least yachty boatyards, and excellent roads nearby for motorcycling and general vehicular fun time?

Since I'm in Canada, let's say somewhere other than Canada.

Basically, when the time comes, where do I want to move?

I intend to live on the boat (live-aboard moorage), parking spot at the marina or nearby, and a garage or storage unit rented for the bikes.

As for affordability, I'm thinking of any place which is not a resort town; there are probably still more locals in this magical place than part-timers or tourists, or the offshore owners that own most of Canadian real estate.

Northern West Coast... Oregon maybe? NorCal? Gulf Coast? East Coast? Mexico, Europe... IDK. What I do know is that if I never see Winter again it won't hurt my feelings. (Winter to a Canuck involves snow on the ground.)

reported for "yachty boatyards"

;)

Mud

LOL! The crews at a yard full of commercial fishing boats and tugs probably aren't the ones to step and rig a mast on a sailboat, if you had a choice. I gather that having riggers and other specialists travel gets expensive...

Amsterdam.
Mallorca.
there is no real estate near or on the water that is relatively affordable.

Amsterdam is one of the cities I've visited, and I liked it a lot.

I've never been to Spain, but my friends in Europe will fly there for a weekend golf trip, because it's that much cheaper than Sweden, France and the UK (where they live).

Real estate pricing is only a tertiary issue, living on the boat. I don't intend to buy a house wherever I land, at least not for quite a few years; areas with sky-high real estate prices usually DO have higher prices on everything else. What I meant by affordability is the general cost of living there, excluding housing. Somewhere that a trunk full of groceries doesn't require a line of credit.

Oh. We’ll Ireland was fairly cheap. I loved it there. Not sure on their house boat situation though.

Definitely check out San Diego. No idea how much it would cost to live on a boat there tho

The size of your boat is important information where you go. Most marinas have their own special rules as far as "living on your boat" goes, some only two weeks, some allow extended time and charge more. Pitfalls everywhere, and you need to know before you go. Miami, Corpus Christi, San Diego, Chesapeake Bay, Maryland is also beautiful, but possibly too close to freezing sometimes.
