Suicide is painless.

they sang it in the movie.
It's the movie that I discovered the lyrics. I thought the TV show was better than the movie. But maybe because I saw the TV show before I watched the movie.

Random question as you guys seem more active than the question thread.

Anyone done PCV pre-emptively as maintenance? Couple people recommend it, but it seems like most wait until symptoms of failure..

Follow up - Do you need the purge canister as well or just the PCV valve? Uro has a replacement kit for 180ish, vs just the valve from FPC for 147.

I did the BL version from the A4 to stop the smoke machine on hard cornering.

I would have no issue doing it as maintenance, it was cheap and 30 min to do myself. If PCV fails, it can take out the RMS or worse, so I'd call it cheap insurance.

I actually did, maybe about a month ago. I had some seepage from the PCV breather hose, so I replaced the PCV and the hose, but used it as excuse to get the upgraded ECS (I know, I know, ECS bad) breather hose, because I fucking hate the stock connector on the OEM breather hose. Did not replace the purge value.

You can get the PCV directly from VW for $118.

How you liking the ECS breather hose? Personally I've never had an issue with them, other than why the price some things the way they do.. Coil puller for 50 bucks when everyone else has them for 30 or under? 🤷‍♂️

The idea with going FCP is I could do it again down the road for free due to their warranty. So an extra 30ish bucks is worth it in my opinion. Just wasn't sure if I just needed the valve, or the full canister kit that Urotuning was selling.

I've read most see issues around 50-60k, I'm at 47k right now and planning an IS20 swap. Figured something like this might be worth looking into doing with some other things I want to check off before the turbo swap for peace of mind.

I've already got the Vargas (Speaking of companies people hate) Oil cap breather as cheap insurance against crank case pressure, but figure making sure the PCV is in top shape might be good.

This will go over great.

You could just get the Spulen OCC and never have to worry about replacing the PCV valve.
I was waiting for this.. I feel for the price, again with FCP's warranty, a catch can for me is just too expensive a bullet to bite as I don't plan to track the wagon. The Gen3 engines have really good PCV valves, now if we were talking my MK6 I'd be with you all the way even as just a street driven car.

I just got the PCV and the ECS breather hose. The kit from Urotuning doesn't have the breather hose included (https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/audi-vw-breather-hose-genuine-vw-audi-06k103213b), so that would be another cost. I get the point of the FCP warranty, and they normally are my go to. But hopefully, I don't have to replace the PCV again.

I like the ECS hose. Had no issues installing, and much easier to connect and remove to the turbo inlet pipe than that stupid stock plastic connector.

Added bonus, it was fun getting a quick peek inside the engine while replacing it.

I have things to consider now. The ECS kit looks pretty nice. Thinking of swapping to the IE turbo inlet when I do my turbo swap, so seems like a good job for then.
