Didn’t you say you were one ER visit away from insolvency. What exactly do you consider “a lot of taxes”?

Still waiting on what makes me a socialist.

You didn't read subsequent posts. I wasn't talking about me in particular. Comparing a citizen to someone in the country illegally. The fact that you think a person in the country illegally has the same rights as a citizen. I'm not going to debate what is a lot of taxes. That's stupid.

You are the one that said you were one ER visit away from ruin. Not me.

Regardless, I never said that an illegal alien has the same rights as a citizen. I simply stated that you are a pile of human trash for thinking you deserve medical treatment more than another person. Because reasons.

My tax comment is based on your belief that your tax burden gives you more eligibility to a basic human right. You stated you’ve paid high taxes. Considering you don’t seem to be very well off, I was wondering what you considered “high taxes”.

Bet let’s move away from that. I’m still waiting for you to provide why you believe I’m a socialist.

I didn't say that I was one ER visit from bankruptcy. If I made sound that way I apologize. I was posting a hypothetical situation.

It's amazing how you and others twist comments to suit your rebuttals. Forget paying taxes etc. An American citizen takes priority over a person in the US illegally period. If you don't agree with that you're a socialist.

I was staying out of this one, but I really am curious - So what is the American thing, allowing people to die in the street? Triage is normally based on severity of injury. I mean technically the capitalist way would be who ever has better insurance should go first.

The argument is centered around the idea that one life has more value than another, regardless of nationality.

Already went through this with Jay. All things being equal the younger person would get treated first.

If the younger person was the one who is in the country illegally after treatment and recovery he or she should then be deported. With DACA people being an exception. I don't have a problem with DACA people having rights as though they are a citizen because it's out of their control as to how they are living here.

Hospitals don't generally check for citizenship before they begin treatment. And I'd question your statement that the younger person would be treated first, unless we're talking both individuals having injuries that place them on the brink of death - then generally yes, the younger person would be treated first as they have the greatest chance of survival generally. Kinda along the whole lines of Will Smith's characters demons in i Robot, he didn't understand why he was saved over another person - essentially he had the greatest chance of survival.

Normally insurance, and everything like that is handled on the back end in Hospitals by the Admin staff. By law they can't refuse you care regardless of insurance, this also protect American's that can't afford the care they need.
"Public and private hospitals alike are prohibited by law from denying patient care in an emergency. The Emergency Medical and Treatment Labor Act (EMTLA) passed by Congress in 1986 explicitly forbids the denial of care to indigent or uninsured patients based on a lack of ability to pay."

I did not say anything about citizenship and refusing treatment. . And with regards to survival that's what I meant that Jay and I agreed on.
Didn't say anything about denying coverage for lack of insurance.

True, but you've also said that an illegal getting treatment before an American citizen made someone socialist.

So should doctors and EMTs be checking for proof of citizenship before they begin treatment in an emergency? The response before that was centered around the idea that one life has more value than another, and I could only wonder as to why nationality would matter. Maybe I just read things incorrectly.

I think your definition of socialist is a bit skewed. Put down the hate and propaganda for just a moment.

What comment did I twist to suit my rebuttal? You clearly stated you were one ER visit away from bankruptcy. At no point did you allude to this being a hypothetical situation. Being that you are a delivery driver, I didn’t think it’s far off that a $3000 medical bill could put someone in your line of work under water. Rather than your accusatory comments, why not to lessen the ambiguity of your examples? This one is on you, sir.

Yes, I believe that all people are entitled to access to emergent medical care, regardless of immigration status, race, color, creed, or any other defining factor. This is not a socialist ideal, this is a basic human right embraced by civil societies throughout the world; capitalist, communist, nomadic, etc. It is what separates us from the rest of animalia.

The fact that you cannot embrace this concept and fix your arrogance, ignorance, and pompous entitlement is very telling of some deeply rooted character flaws you harbor.

So, as a basic human right is off the table... what makes me a socialist again? Come on Jay, you’ve got something better than some regurgitated Tucker Carlson rhetoric... right? Maybe you could argue something about emails?

I think your entire opinion is beyond skewed. I don't spread hate and propaganda. And my name isn't Jay.

I'm financially set for whatever life I have left because of my investments.

With regards to your attempted insult as to what I'm currently doing for an income I don't need I make 70K per year delivering just Tuesday through Friday. I've mentioned in other threads that I have a unique and extremely good situation. I'm a contract driver by the way. So I do have high expenses using my own car but it's irrelevant because I don't need the income. I do it to avoid being bored doing nothing. And it's actually quite fun to race at stop lights all day and get paid for it.

Did you somehow miss my complete lack of attempts to veil my insults? I mean seriously, did you miss my past comments calling you, in so many words, a pathetic waste of breathable air?

You made a comment regarding a concerning financial situation being your own. Knowing you drive your car delivering items would typically put you in an income bracket where, typically, a simple ER visit wound wipe you out. “I’m a contract driver in my own car” screams Uber, Lyft, Grub Hub, etc. Now, had you rambled on, ad nauseum, about being a millionaire, I’d have questioned your claim $3000 away from being bankrupt. But, delivery driver, not so much. No insult intended, just an easy leap to make based on your statements.

Now that’s cleared up, what is it that makes me a socialist?
