I have searched the forum and checked what I can (for some of the existing things to check such as ground connections etc etc).
My son purchased a Golf TDI MKV (2004) - his first car (technically his second but his first car pretty much fell apart after a few months).
With the standard stereo fitted when he increased the volume it would cut out when it started to get loud (until he reduced the volume again).
We replaced the headunit with a Kenwood DMX5020DABS and he still gets the same issue.
The person that had the car before him had a pretty meaty audio setup judging by the cabling that was put in (8/4/2 AWG power cable and a whole bunch of speaker wire etc) and I guess reverted it back to factory by simply snipping wires and reconnecting the standard VW (handily they left the already wired ISO connector
Even with the new headunit he gets the same issue. Just checking the cabling I can see I noticed a purple/brown connection under each seat that is currently unplugged (see pic) - I assume these should be connected? What would be the reason for disconnecting them (I haven't yet)?
Any help gratefully received or if anyone can recommend someone in Exeter who could take a look without charging the Earth it would be appreciated!
