So, I bought a "new" project '87 Jetta GLI 8v with 5 speed manual trans, power locks, power windows, A/C (currently not blowing cold ), leather and cloth interior. :eyebulge:

no rear window.....lol

with the MKV

a little bit from the interior. The drivers seat is pretty rough...it's got this gangster lean to the left side and has a big nasty rip, missing foam...just ahhhh >.< other than that, the interior is not too terrible. odemeter stopped at 85thousandsomething miles too...

First thing I did was peel off the vinyl between the front and rear windows. It was in bad condition and I actually think I like it better without it.

I also picked up a few things from the junkyard. A new front pass. turn signal, rear brake light reflector and housing, drivers side door seal and a new fuel box. Mine has a lil crack in it.

And here's just a picture of the dirty ass engine bay.:yikes:

The car runs strong as hell and has some good bones. I'm planning on keeping the exterior pretty old school with the exception of suspension, wheels and color. The interior on the other hand, will get a complete overhaul...except for the headliner which happens to be in AMAZING condition.

20v swap ftw

In a Mk1 where a VR6/VRT requires a lot more fabrication to do it, yes I'll agree. But a VR6 is relatively easy to do in a Mk2. VR6 wins IMO lol. But I'm just pissed because I still regret selling my Mk3 Jetta GLX.

Yes, the Trophies? They're hard to find, but when I was looking for a set for my dad, I found two front ones for $200 plus shipping IIRC on eBay.

Mint condition too.

I didn't find anything on eBay as of right now besides these, which would have to be re-upholstered lol.

There are a couple of nice sets in the UK too.

And then I made the fatal mistake of looking for the Edition 30 Recaro's.

I think that comes out to $1300 for the Ed30's which isn't bad at all actually.

not if you car about handling, and you'll be faster out of the box with a 1.8 than a vr.
