is it true if you buy a new car, for the first x amount of miles, you should not push it. ideally u should not exceed 3000 revs.

is this something that still applies to new cars or has the technology moved forward so that u can slam it into the red zone as soon as u leave the garage?

also how many miles should this be done for? is it 1000?

VW still recommends break-in on the GTI engine up to 600miles... during which time the revs should be varied.

so u mean its 3000revs maximum until 600 miles?

and does this apply to a normal 1.4 s? maybe i should just ask the dealer before i drive it out.

No, it's not limited to 3k rpm's. I'm not sure if it applies to 1.4's. Have you gotten the car yet? Your manual should have the proper break-in procedure.

Don't worry about the break in procedure. Don't be afraid to rev it up some. :)

absolutely... be more concerned about looking after the clutch and brakes for the first few hundred miles... after that, just let it rip :D
