Requests VS Actual Boost logs

Hi Guys,

Recently upgraded to APR stage 2.
I’ve noticed a lot of fluctuations in boost on WOT, Also I thought I it would make more boost. Peaks at around 17. Seems to hold around 15 maybe a bit less. Car still feels quick just unsure if there may be an issue with the turbo or possibly something else?

I ran VCDS on requested vs actual.

Would anyone be able to help shed some light if the logs look normal or if have any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

Would be more helpful to also see the rpm and wgdc data.
Generally, max pressure is meeting target pressure within 600 to 700 rpm of going full throttle.
WGDC has a certain curve and is helpful to see.
APR stage 2 file is no longer available to my understanding...but that may just be here in the states. But since it is stage 2 it should boost near 21 psi.
You may want to check the N75 resistance.
Internal WG may be off; damaged or in need of additional preload.
Could be leaking; boost hose connections or PCV.

Thanks for the reply, It was tuned before it was discontinued here in Australia. I’ll upload RPM and n75 duty cycle log soon.

I’ll upload the logs just have to condense them, I’m confused about the MAF readings. Only seeing a max of 160g/s. Thought it would be much higher? What could be causing that? Also could the ECU be requesting lower boost as it’s not receiving the air flow to meet fuel values?

Is 160 g/s the peak mass air reading near redline in 3rd or 4th gear?
Yes...it should be higher at stage 2. That shows it to be at about 197-200 HP. If your HP is supposed to be near 265 HP...then the mass air, maximum near 3rd gear redline, should be near 225 g/s.
Causing it may be a leak post MAF. I can only assume it is possible...that the ECU would reduce specified if leaking or if the MAF is reporting poorly due to it failing. Does it feel stronger with the MAF unplugged? If so...then it is likely the MAF is failing. If not...then it likely has a leak.

However, when you had the APR tune loaded...did you get all of their switchable modes? Could it actually be in stock mode right now?

Yeah rpm would be useful, as would throttle position, so that we can see how quickly the turbo responds to the target.

Boost targets will change depending on conditions. The ECU will only deliver the full beans if it's 100% happy with all the sensor feedback, which includes the stock map as well. 160 g/s is definitely a problem if it's supposed to be a Stage 2 map, hence why the boost is barely exceeding stock. Not much over a bar there. Stage 2 is normally 1.4+ bar.

Check the ECU for fault codes, and if none, start logging some of the common measuring blocks as a health check. You can log up to 12 with VCDS. Timing pull is a good one to log. Timing pull kills any party.

I’ll go and and get some logs now. Yes 165 is near red line in 3rd and seen also the same it 4th. I’ll log RPM / Timing / MAF and air fuel ratio?
I’ve been meaning to put the stock intake back on to see if the diameter change has thrown the readings out due to the larger volume but at less pressure. Car runs the same with the MAF unplugged no noticeable increases

They never offered switchable modes as it was the last day before APR discontinued stage 2 may have been a reason why they didn’t.

I...I...I...ummm. Yeah, have that look into the data...but I'm thinking they screwed up loading the tune correctly and it is still stock. Especially if nothing is found to be wrong. Did you think as you drove away that it doesn't feel any different? My first tune; I remember leaving after mine was tuned to stage 1 and thinking...wow! I wish it had come from the factory like this. Even if yours were bumped up to just 250 HP...its mass air would be 200 g/s. It's as though it is still stock.

I thought that may have been the issue but looking at A/F it’s logging 0.81 - 0.83 and that’s what the stage 2 requires. I’m not sure if VCDD can show a flash log on there?

No, no way to tell if flashed using VCDS.

I've seen 12.2 to 12.5 lambda posted when stock.
So;
12.2/14.7=0.83
12.5/14.7=0.85

Tuned can be all over the place(tune and hardware variations); more often 0.78 to 0.82 is seen.
11.5/14.7=0.78
12.1/14.7=0.82

..then there's conditions which affect AFR...especially the condition of the exhaust. The size of downpipe and type of catalyst makes a difference. Typically it will report a bit leaner with a larger DP. My K04 tune specifies 0.80 and then 0.79 just before redline. But actual is usually at "0.78...then up to 0.82...and back to 0.78" through a full rev range with a 2.5 DP and no cat.

I have a 3” down pipe with res delete. I changed the plugs today and noticed the plug in cylinder 1 was running lean build up on it and was white all other plugs where brownish.
Would a bad injector cause this issue?

The car was tuned when I brought it but the old fella who owned it brought it off someone who had it tuned and he wasn’t sure what tune was in it. It wasn’t an APR tune. I’ve noticed more top end. I’m fairly certain it has the tune loaded. I just replied below Ive put new plugs in it today and noticed cylinder 1 was running lean so I’m starting to think an injector issue could be a thing as to why the LTFT are a bit higher?
