Hey all,
This probably sounds ludicrous, but I have to ask:
I replaced my pads 2 days ago on the Gold R. The disc surface facing outwards looked fine so didn’t order discs, however after taking everything apart the disc surface on the piston side had worn a lot deeper than I had expected (makes sense as it’s a single pot Caliper). I completed the pad change anyhow cleaning everything out, lubing, copper slip etc.
The discs will need changing at some point this year because of the wear, no point waiting around so I’ve ordered a new set which I plan to do this weekend.
Question is, can I simply remove the carrier bolts allowing the whole Caliper assembly to be moved (pads remain in the carrier), then replace discs and then bolt the Caliper assembly back on without removing the pads, carrier etc? I know I’ll have to push the piston back but this is easily done.
Sounds somewhat ludicrous I know!
