Plume of smoke from exhaust. PCV + ???

Location
NC
I guess I'm showing symptoms of a bad PCV valve. I pulled the PCV hose off the intake and was met with only slight resistance when I blew into it with the oil cap off. However, the car idles rough when the oil cap is off as well which is a symptom of a good PCV valve.

I have an appointment on Wednesday to get the new revision PCV valve but my question is, how likely is it that the smoke is PCV related? It's definitely oil burning since the smoke is blue and only occurs once in a while right after I give it some boost.

I'm assuming also that since I'm burning oil, this is the reason my brand new spark plugs have black tips. I've read things that say if the front PCV valve is bad, oil can be shot back into the turbo which then enters the intake tract which could be the cause of my occasional flood of smoke (think seafoam).

edit: checking here, they say that the symptoms I'm experiencing are from a blown turbo. I REALLY hope this isnt the case. No VAGCOM in the immediate area and I'm not throwing any CELs

Sounds like normal carbon build up. I would invest in a pcv blockoff plate not a catch can.

I was considering going aftermarket instead of hoping the newest OEM revision is any good. I've had the occasional carbon buildup blow out and that came out as the black cloud of smoke so I can tell that there's a difference between that and what I'm getting.

To describe what happened most recently, I was turning out of my apartment and accelerating. While I was still turning, a huge plume of blue smoke poofs out large enough to leave a dense smoke screen across the 4 lane road, this continued for about 100 ft where the smoke didnt completely stop but small puffs of blue smoke came out while idling (I parked after this). I drove it back to the apartment while staying out of boost to check out what was going on and by the time I got back, the blue smoke stopped.

I've had other occasions where this has happened where I thought it was just carbon buildup but this has been the worst occurrence

What you describe is exactly what would happen if the crankcase had excessive pressure.
