K04 maybe?

I figure it's a bit like marriage. Things get a little dull after a while, and it's easy to take the car for granted. I'm struggling, myself. Car hasn't been reliable, and warranty repairs easily topped $10k, and now my warranty is about to expire.

On the other hand, it'll be paid for by year end, and one could hope that the repairs done to date should have sorted out most issues. And the car IS fun to drive, and a nice place to be for my daily commute.

I wish I had money for a K04. Haha..

I can't wait to get to that point of paying it off man, congratulations! I have almost 3 years left.

Might I ask what totalled to 10k and how? Haha

Yeah, mine's been keeping it interesting the past few weeks.

Cap for my noise pipe delete developed a leak, replaced it. Replacement failed and replaced that. Seems to be OK now but still working on a permanent solution. Don't want to pay $70 for a silicone cap (seems ridiculous) but alternative is either keep with the temp solutions or do a DV relocate just to fill it?

Noticed one of my tires had a slow leak in it, was keeping it topped off until I got out one day and could hear the leak. Threw the spare on and found that it wasn't just a leak, it was my tire delaminating where I had previously gotten a plug in it. :-/ But hey, I was due for a new set come springtime anyways.

I noticed I've got some seriously abnormal wear patterns on my summer tires, so I guess I'll be getting alignment done sometime soon too.

And then just yesterday I noticed I've developed what seems to be a new boost leak, but only under high (for stock) boost, around 3500-4500 RPM with my foot in it. So, under the car I will be going to check that out some time this week.

And I was just defending my car a few weeks ago from accusations that she was 'high maintenance'... ;-)

Man must be a GTI thing, my 2.5L @69,000km has been rock solid (knock on wood!) besides having the master cylinder replaced 3 or 4 years ago.

I paid my 2008 off this past April and have to admit that it's nice not having to pay VW every month. I've kinda stalled out on mods at the moment. Anything more at this point would be engine related and I've been around long enough to know that the when you start going down that road, reliability goes out the window.

Thanks MKVDave, I'm looking forward to being payment-free for a while!

I don't have all the exact numbers for you, as they don't normally include prices for warranty work, but I always ask, for my own reference.

Front bumper had to be replaced when I got it. They tried to "deliver" the car with a huge gouge out of said bumper. Probably $1k. Mechatronic replacement was worth about $4k. The steering rack was replaced twice (unnecessarily) to solve a click in the front end, and they're worth $1400 a pop. A strut was replaced chasing the same issue, and I'm going to guess that was $500, labour in. Still have the same click. In-tank fuel pump failed and was replaced, along with some emissions equipment when the evap control system developed a leak. I'm guessing $2k for that? Plus a couple of gaskets swapped out because of oil leaks, and other smaller issues.

A lot of this work should never have happened. Either there was a greater issue like the mechatronic that you'd have hoped they'd have figured out before they shipped so many of them, or things like the steering rack which weren't the problem in the first place.

Still... in the five years I've been paying for it, I've probably gone without it for a couple of months while they "fixed" it. Not impressive. Between that and lackluster dealership experiences, I have to question whether sticking with VAG is a good idea.

Regardless, future repairs will be done elsewhere, so we'll see.

Slothy, you might check the o-rings on your IC pipes. That's a typical point of failure when the boost gets up there. And Tooly, I can't really say that my mods have caused any reliability issues per se... just that it's made dealing with warranty issues more delicate, because you know they'd LOVE to use them as an excuse to avoid covering the work, even when it's not related.

Eyyeih. Well, congrats on getting them to warranty so much of the work but sorry to hear it's been such an experience. Enjoy being out of the hole now that it's paid off, I'm still about 18 months out. I love the car, it's a beaut to drive but then I have to admit, my girlfriend's Civic Si has had a lot less trouble. Not none, but a lot less. I think if I had bought this car new, I'd have a lot different feelings about it though (and probably considerably fewer problems).

Hey guys!

My GF just purchased a 2009 Rabbit sportline! And I plan to start hitting it with the mod bug =)

Loving this forum and I'm starting to obtain lots of ideas for what my GF's car is going to look like.

these are used front mats in black. oval hooks.

i've had them sitting for awhile and keep forgetting i still have them.

bought them new from weathertech for $130. i sold my gti years ago and have no more need for them. needs just a wash and they would be good as new.

selling them for $80. PM me as i am not on this forum often since selling my mk5.

i am in the bby/surrey area depending on the time/day. thx.

Fairly new to VWs and still doing my homework on these cars.

Would this fit a MKv rabbit? practically the same car no?

AFAIK Mk5/Mk6 Golf/Rabbit/GTI are basically the same car with different engines and trim but I've never really read up much on the ones other than what I own (GTI). I would expect them to work fine, but you may want to wait for someone else to chime in or ask the seller.

Should fit as long as you have the oval retainers and not the circular ones

^This.

And if you're looking at mods, the Rabbit sounds great with the right exhaust.

Agreed.. I drove my buddies chipped 2.5 with a eurojet exhaust, and had a fuckin BLAST with the windows down. Although after I got over the noise, I noticed how slow it was lol
