Hello, so when ever my gti is at a stop an I turn my wheel all the way to the left right before I’m at full turn I hear a single clunk noise.... the sounds coming from down by my driver side tire an I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is, I would really appreciate any thoughts on what it might be!

thanks in advance!!!

I had the same problem, only on the opposite side.

I would first make sure everything is healthy in the suspension/direction (no play in tie rods ends for exemple).

If there is no problems there, the most obvious things are either that the subframe bolts got a bit loose or you have play in the steering rack (worst case scenario).

For me tightening the subframe bolts made the noise disappear for some time, but then it came back, to disappear some time after and it didn't came back since months now, so I hope 😅

Check your sway bar end links, if the joints are not moving smoothly they will also make a clunking noise. When this noise occurs it will sound like it coming from the subframe and also from the front strut tower.
