My European Delivery Experience

BMW really knows how to sell these cars to your emotions. So we went to the BMW Welt in Munich to pick up the car. We check in at 9:30 and they process some paperwork then they tell us to wait at the lounge. They show you a schedule monitor showing your turn to pick up the car:

The lounge is on the 4th floor, overlooking the factory to the left and the delivery floor to the right where you can see your car and other people's cars sitting on a rotating platform. This is no regular dealership lounge. They served German breakfast, coffee and I think even beer but it was early morning and I was picking up the car. Pics of the lounge:

You can see the factory in the background:

From the lounge I was able to spot my car:

After about 30 minutes of waiting around, our BMW specialist did a 30 minute multimedia presentation showing us the history of BMW and the design process on a fancy table computer and how some of my car's features worked on a driving simulator.

The touchscreen table computer thing:

Then on to the driving simulator to show me how to drive a BMW. lol:

So after all that, we are ready to go down the stairs. As we're going down she explains to us how the ceiling is made of many tons of steel equal to 2 jumbo jets. Fascinating! Now let's get to my car....

As if this trip wasn't ridiculous enough, I though this part was just surreal. As you go down the stairs, the rotating platform turns and spotlights are shined on your car. Tourists are taking pictures.

Finally I meet my car!

She shows me the various features of the car. These BMW specialists are very thorough!

Aren't these seats badass?

Anyone taken delivery with .2 miles on the odometer?

She then hands me a present. This key chain is supposedly part of the same steel that the Welt is made of and it has my initials on it. Thanks BMW!

I start the car for the first time, tourists are looking from the ledge above.

We then take a "victory lap" around the delivery area and down into a ramp where an automatic door opens up to let you and your car outside. We take a quick right and promptly valeted the car so we can go to the museum. Various onlookers gawk in awe (or so I like to imagine):

So that was the delivery part of my European Delivery experience. As I said, BMW really knows how to sell to your emotions. After going through all this, why wouldn't you want to get another BMW in 5 years and do it all over again?! More pics to come as we drive to Switzerland tomorrow. We're going to see some castles which should make for great backdrops.

Great write up. Congrats on the new car.

BTW you look so happy in every pic. I've seen fishermen with lobsters attached to their balls look happier than you.
