Are you looking for power, handling, visuals, or...???
A tune is going to give it more power than bolt-on's...bolt-on's won't even be noticeable.
If you decide to add a tune; you need to make sure it is running tops before taking it in for tuning.
Consider all of what GTI's said ↑ ... And definitely sort out the condition of the cam follower first thing before running it hard and before adding a performance file/tune.
Then just before tuning; give it new coils, PCV, and plugs. Maybe even a set of injectors...and have the intake valves cleaned at the same time. You should install a down-pipe or turbo-back.
Be prepared to replace its;
diverter valve or upgrade it.
Water pump
thermostat
leaking seals
N205 - EVAP purge valve
Its timing belt should've been replaced by 120k miles.
Its timing chain and tensioner may not last much more than 150k miles....it can be checked.
If DSG trans; it's serviced every 40k miles.
Here is the engine's PDF, but the intake cam has a tri-lobe where this shows it as a bi-lobe:

Here is a Torque spec PDF if you do stuff yourself. Just be aware there's more than one engine in this document;
