Mk5 gti Sport mode

Hey just a quick question about the sport mode in GTI’s. What EXACTLY does it do? I know it tries to keep the car in the lowest gear possible But anything else? I can’t find complete answers anywhere.

Open up your owners manual it tells you what S does.

 

[ROH ECHT]

In the case you don't have the MK5 GTI Owner's manual....it says;
Driving in 'S' means it will upshift and downshift at higher rpms.

Then there's a "warning" saying;
When going downhill, driving in 'S' will not slow you down more.

Followed by another "warning" which says;
Be kind to the environment and drive in 'D' because 'S' uses more fuel.
