The objective here is to have a setup that is at least 0.75" lower than stock (2007) and can soak up the smaller bumps well. I am willing to give up a bit of handling for the mild drop and soft ride.

Is Koni yellows and Eibach springs the way to go? I don't want to do stock height and DG springs are impossible to find.

If you do not stick with oem replacements for dampers/shocks...all others will be valved for increased rebound and compression in most cases. Then there's the pairing of dampening forces with spring rate. Too high rate minimizes compression and rebound, and too low a rate exaggerates or speeds up or voids the dampening in other words.

If just wanting it lower and not wanting a stiff ride...stick with oem dampers and select a lowering spring with the lowest rate...or closest to the oem rate. H&R OE Sport might work best and will not require a damper change. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-h-and-r-parts/oe-sport-springs-set/54752-55/

If going to swap the dampers to a performance damper; then go with Eibach Pro or H&R Pro spring for about a one inch drop. You could try Pro Tuning, but their spring rates seem a bit high; https://www.protuninglab.com/ls-vwg...jk884j3DihKpP1eHR8kb_KzCZl40nUpYaAqBEEALw_wcB
Another might be Godspeed, but they give no spring rates; https://www.ecstuning.com/b-godspee...qMNYAjpzFHHBPZURT2QmFb0rE3LRUC0QaAhHKEALw_wcB

If I recall correctly the 06-07 cars had springs that were a bit longer than 08-09. I think you could just put in 08-09 springs and you will probably come close to your desired drop without affecting ride quality for a small price. Pretty sure it gives you a 1/2 in drop.

Good Point. I recall the '07 was dropped right after I bought mine in Nov. '06...then another drop of nearly another 1/2" happened with the '08.

Would be 1/2 to 7/8" lower though. The scary bit is the '09 still had some big gap.
