Pretty sure a strong IS20 car would pull most K04s. IS38 it's not even a race.

Honest compared to the forge BOV its a night and day difference...you dont hear it unless really on it...but it holds boost very well...id say pretty on par with the stock DV...i'd recommend it all day

I know it's not necessarily a "vs" but I'm comparing my is38 GTI to my previous mk6 ko4 GTI and holy smokes there is a huge difference up top. The video is just before the kickdown switch, so pedal is not 100% all the way to the ground and I don't let the shifts go much into redline...This video was when I was still breaking in the car. (I installed IE rods/pistons for my mk7) These is38 turbos pull strong for an OEM turbo. For comparison I have an old video of my mk6 ko4 doing a 60-145mph pull.
Mk7 80-140mph ~13-14 seconds
Mk6 80-140mph ~19-20 seconds

I literally just copied and pasted this from the mk6 gti forum. Here's a link to that thread:

Curious how much the pistons and rods cost for both parts and labor? Also, why did you do it?

I had k04 on my mk5, running Apr tune . No comparison to is38. You'd be better off comparing to an is20. Stage 2 is20 is as fast, if not faster than a previous generation with the k04.

My car is night and day from my mk5. Different league.

Mk5 was also running pre and post throttle body meth with a twintercooler, intake, turboback, and the 100oct file.

K04's with bolts ons and slicks run mid to low 12's which is about the same as a well tuned and similiar mk7 is20 with bolt ons on pump gas.

Mod for mod a IS20 can and will take a K04 more often then not.

I did the Rods/Pistons because one of my pistons failed. Had a small hole in one of the pistons. I did quite a few mods when I decided to do the repair. So for the rods/pistons, APR intercooler, is38 turbo, ECS turbo blanket, APR inlet pipe, APR carbonio intake pipe, APR Pendulum mount, APR DSG tune, essentially all my mods in my sig minus APR intake/Downpipe I spent roughly ~9-10k with labor. I decided to get all the work done together when doing the repair so I would have something to look forward to after spending a lot of money. I believe it would have been ~5-6k with just the rod/pistons repair with labor.
