If the mechanic you go to thinks this is fine for a cam follower...go to another mechanic

This "specialty" shop; one that told me i needed a new turbo for $4k on an 08 gti for a underboost (turned out to be a <1 psi leak from MISSING CLIPS), told me they had checked my cam followers and that everything was good. At the time i was driving it and how long it had been driven..i didnt feel right for some reason. Drove 2.5 hours away and that mechanic called me AS he found this...he was in shock that there was no damage done. I feel so lucky. Please check your cam followers on your FSI...this could have ended so SO badly. I'm not sure if the first shop lied about checking them (they never charged me for a new O ring), or they just thought this was okay...
