I guess I have a blown transmission?

Well I was driving last night. My area just got 23' of snow and its mostly plowed except for some streets which have about an inch on the ground - I dont know if that has anything to do with it.

But I started my car (09 TSI - 6 speed. Completely stock except for a resonator delete and intake), and as I was driving I noticed a lot of vibration - but it was heavy, like all four tires had a flat spot or something.
I pulled over - checked the engine, checked the brake to see if the snow fucked up the ABS - checked my suspension from what I could see with the widowmaker to see if there was anything wrong. Nothing.

I continued driving (I was easily 12 miles from any form of mechanic, shop, gas station) and eventually the shaking stopped. So I thought I was in the clear.

This morning, I get in my car to go to work. As I pulled out of my block, I shifted from first to second and heard something pop under my car. No, I was not speeding - just driving normally so I couldn't really have stressed the clutch.

So now first, second, and third gear make a very strange noise when I'm accelerating - it sounds almost like the belt on a supercharger. Also, shifting in between the first three gears is very rough (like a noob driving stick coming up too fast on the clutch). After third, the car sounds and shifts normally. So did I blow something? :help:

Update: My friend who knows transmissions said it sounds like I might've disconnected or misaligned a synchro disc because of all the wheel spinning in the snow. Is that even possible?

EDIT: The dealer fixed it for me under warranty. The culprit was a busted transmission mount bolt. They also updated the instrument cluster software.

I brought it to a transmission specialist about a half hour ago and he said whatever happened isn't my fault and the dealer should fix it under warranty. So its looking up. But I hope VW doesn't try to come up with some wackjob reason as to why they shouldn't cover it. No one wants to do a free transmission fix...

Good luck. BTW if you had traction control on there shouldn't have been much wheel spin unless you had it off and were messing around.

ESP was on. The wheels still spin briefly though, until the traction control catches it and supresses the engine. I just dont use first gear in this weather anymore.

The vibration may have been from snow getting in your wheels. When I dug my car out of the snow this past weekend I didn't clean out the huge holes that the huffs have, so my first few miles of driving were rough until all of the snow cleared out of them. That could possibly be the same thing you experienced...

x2 thats what I was going to say. Either that or snow packed into the treads on the tires.

Throw it in a heated garage for a night, melt all the snow and then see where you're at.

When I use to balm around in my 4x4s in the snow, shit would freeze up...
