I did my 1st oil change...

I burned a little more than 1 qt of oil in 5,000 miles, but I guess thats normal?
I paid close to $55 for oil and a filter. Ouch.
I do have a couple of questions...
#1 This is the DV correct?

#2 Is the oil thats coming out of it normal?


#3 What the heck is the hole for and what type of gear am I looking at?

I know the last question doesn't relate to an GTI but the first 2 do relate to the GTI's engine.lol

the Oil is not normal, have it checked and fixed if your car still is covered by warranty
otherwise, leave it sumping (as long, as it is not dripping oil anywhere and just wet)

the rusty cluch is normal, and nothing to worry
but beware of putting anything in there, it has to stay free of grease oil and antirust
in a w/c it would result in a fire and a burning car
the gear is the one on the flyheel, wich is driven by the starter

the oil on dv could be indicative of bad pcv.
