headlight swap

Kind of a newb here. Just bought a 2007 mk5. The headlights are brutal. Im thinking of switching to LED's. Am I correct in reading that I can get a program like vagcom or one of the others and program the ballasts for the xenons to run at lower power for LEDs? Or does anyone have any suggestions for upgraded lighting? Thanks

So you have Bi-Xenon headlights, what is so brutal about them.
