They came on the Eos & the Passat

They're sitting in my basement (without tires at the moment) & might become my winter wheels :iono:

I like them. Hell, you want Classix for winter? Haha, trade?

For a little cash, I probably would (if the Classix were in MINT condition)

Never seen any other GTI's or Jetta's or Rabbit's with these wheels either....only seen 1 Eos with them, lol

Mine are mint though....dealer take-offs....used 1/2 a year.....never saw snow/salt

Only issue would be shipping them...unless you wanna come get them or something

Lol I would pick them up, but mine aren't completely mint. The three are mint besides normal chips from driving, but the previous person with them curbed one.:frown:

No problem.

hi there, i have a question here and any suggestions would be appreciated. i saw that VW dealer catalog sells lowering springs for GTIs MK5's now. Mine is a 2007 4 door DSG. so i called the dealer and he said the springs are made by Eibach but doesn't know if its pro-kit or sportline. but he said it cost $285.00 plus tax and they will install it labor cost is $450.00 and it will be covered under the warranty as a factory equipment. my question is this worth it? not sure how much it will lower it. i would really like to get h&r sport springs but don't know who can install them here in Northern California here in the Bay Area. if anyone knows a place that would install springs please let me know. thanks!

They've actually sold those springs for a while.

The springs are NOT Pro-Kit or Sportline springs -- those are aftermarket springs made by Eibach obviously and are progressive type.

The VW/DriverGear springs are linear, but are made by Eibach for VW. They're blue in color.

You can actually get them cheaper online though then $285. I paid $255 from my dealer last year (when I had them), but they're only $220.88 here:

As for concern with warranty....when does your warranty expire & how many miles on your car? You have a 2007 and there's probably only maybe a year left on it I would assume (since it's 2010 & you have a 4 year warranty).

Depending on the mileage, the suspension components might be wearing out too.
So.....realistically....the DriverGear springs are not the best deal out there for you.
My 2010 GTI (stock) sat at the height of the DriverGear springs when I had them on my MKV.

You can get the Pro-Kit springs for cheaper (around $200-220?) and sit a little lower. Pair them up with some FSD dampers, and you'll have a comfy ride.
Or find some used (low mileage) dampers and run those instead.

As for the labor rate, $450 is CRAZY! I've done mine myself every time, and it only costed me maybe $30 for the tools (1 time purchase), $40 to have the springs mounted on the struts (at a local shop), and $15 for the new bolts/nuts needed.

thanks for the info! yeah the dealer said these eibach springs that they sell can't be bought outside and you're right they're not pro-kit or sport line. i really want to go with the H&R sport my only problem is I don't know a shop here in the Bay Area that I could trust that will install the springs for me. I heard its a pain to install them. Sorry I'm one of those not too machanically savy and I don't have a place or tools to work on my car too. You have a really good deal on your set up. I just hope I can find a good professional shop that could install the springs for me at lower than the $450 that the dealer would charge. I have about 34k miles on my 07 right now and my warranty is up to 75k miles. The drivergear catalog says those springs will lower the car 25-30mm which is not much too.

another question here for all GTI pros here. if i do change my springs to a lowering spring. will i need to install a caster camber plates too? i have a 2004 cobra that i had H&R springs install on it and i had to install caster camber plates too to keep the wheels aligned and to keep the tire wear even. some lowered cars doesn't wear out the tires evenly if the wheels are not aligned properly.

So I think I have decided to put on either Neuspeed Sport or Eibach Pro with Koni FSD. I ride on 18' Huffs. I would like my car leveled, same height front and back if possible. Any suggestions which one is better? I have read multiple threads on here and other forums and still not sure. Pics of 3-door CW GTI with Huffs and these suspensions would be appreciated too.

Thanks.

Snobrdan- How long does it take to switch out the springs?

The back takes like 20-30 minutes from start to finish...super easy

The front is a little more challenging but I can do it in about 1.5-2 hours from start to finish
(if you've done struts before....it's pretty simple....you just need the correct "special" tools to do it)

They're both a pretty similar drop, the Neuspeed Sports might just be a hair lower though

Do a search for pics

Note to those considering Koni FSD's. They are prone to rapid failure. I just blew out my second strut; right front again, 10 months give or take each time. I'm thinking of swapping FSD's out for something else; anything is better than replacing a strut every 10 months. FSD's are mated with Neuspeed Sport springs, which were sold as a supposedly compatible set up. It's not so; guessing the spring drop is too much for the FSD's to handle. Either way, it doesn't hold up. I AM NOT A HAPPY FSD CUSTOMER! BUYER BEWARE!

I think a couple of vendors pair them up on their own (Neuspeeds/FSD's), but they're supposedly a PERFECT match with the Eibach Pro-Kit springs

Like you said, the Neuspeeds drop it too much
