golf 5 2006 - missing ambient temperature sensor and AC not working

Hi

As the title says, my AC doesn't work and I thought the ambient temperature sensor could be the cause. I checked fuses and the compressor works when supplying battery power to it.

Any thoughts?

Ac does not work at temps of approximately 40 degrees F and below so if the car does not know what the temp is neither will the Ac. Might want to fix that as a start and see what happens.

Alright that's good to know, I'll start there. I wonder if that might be a trigger for the fans to spin continuously...

yup, it was the missing ambient temp sensor causing all this. This thread can be closed now, thanks!

So, the sensor fixed the Ac issue, but you also had the cooling fan running all the time with key on?

The missing sensor resolved both the AC issue and the fans running continuously.
