At the request of a few members, I started this thread as a discussion for using Eurodyne for tuning. Please share any information that could be helpful in people using the software, tuning principles, questions etc. Hopefully we can turn this into a wealth of knowledge as it is on vortex and audizine

Thanks Terry!

I would like to see if anybody can offer any recommendations on books to read to learn tuning in general.

I have been reading several long forum threads on Maestro in my spare time, and will make sure to post up the links when I get home.

This guy deals with mostly Ford and GM vehicles, but he really puts everything in a great perspective to help you really understand how things work when tuning just about any PCM. It is a bit older, so there are a lot of new concepts in VW tuning compared to what he talks about, but this will give you a very good grounding when trying to understand the workings of EFI.

I have a lot of resources that are internal to the tuning company I work at, so I can't post a lot of resources that I use. However, that book is very useful and a good perspective for knowledgeable "beginners."

Very seldom does a Direct Injection Tuner modify injector on/off timing. Increasing fuel pressure allows for more fueling.

Use EFI tuning info very loosely.

^would that translate well into di? or should i look into a di or diesel book?

DI for gas engines is still the same principal: spark, air, fuel. Of course everything in place controlling those things is quite a bit more complicated than that, those are what it all still breaks down to.

Just a different method of control for fuel injection. A lot of similar principals will still apply, and there are ALWAYS differences not only from one manufacturer to another, but one vehicle to the next in any model lineup.

I am not sure if the owner of the doc would like me posting it, but if you google search

Translated Funktionsrahmen Modules

The fourth result should be the pdf I am talking about. Extensive info on many inputs outputs from the 1.8T, still many things carry over as that is Bosch ME7 and we have the MED9.

My background is more in the chevy big/small block world and read this book and found it pretty good. Not too technical but enough to get your feet wet. A lot of the information carries over to FI in general.

My younger brother tuned his own 05 wrx and few other cars for his friends. Always asks me when we will tune the gti by ourselves. He is a software engineer, but I always thought tuning a gti was a pita and unsafe. Would be nice to tune the K04 with my water meth set up.

The only time it's unsafe is when you don't know what you're doing. This is a great ECU, but it's not run on wizard spells and unicorn grounds.

I may be able to contribute to this thread come summertime.

I would just like some examples of what to really modify/tweak within Maestro itself without causing any harm to these engines. For example I have a file that was tweaked by C. Tapp and a file that was tweaked by FFE. If I look at the boost duty they are night and day. If I modify any of the boost duty, technically thats wastegate duty cycles, but shouldnt I be modifying timing, fuel, etc???
