Point this sort of thing at DSG Oil sump.

Only need to check temp, which from memory is between something like 35c to 45c. It took ages to reach 35c from cold then steadily increased to 45C.

No re-calibrating of DSG box required.

I think I would like to make a DSG tool myself instead of paying lots of money for a similar tool. But how does the pressure sprayer tool work?:iono:

- Open pressure sprayer by turning handle counter-clockwise.
- Fill with DSG gear oil.
- screw on sprayer handle and pump until moderate resistance is felt.
- Squeeze sprayer applicator valve to begin filling.

thanks, it looks like something martha stewart would build! I'm probably going to have to build one myself.

I am curious if someone with VAG-com and a hand held temp gun would be willing to compare an external temp reading with the gun to the sensor reading from the computer? If we had an equivalent range of external temps it would get us cheap SOBs close without the cost! Like many looking to do this service, I am making my own drain/fill tool to save some cash. However, if I need to buy the VAG-com equipment to read the temps, it kind of defeats the goal!

I wouldnt lose too much sleep over the temperature monitoring.

I did this service back in May 2009 and several thousand miles later its running just fine. Others have done this as well with no drama.

Can I use this filter part number 02E 305 051 C
This is what ESC sent me with the DSG oil and filter kit. The old filter I pulled out was 02E 305 051 B

Has anyone used this filter?

Without seeing pics of those part numbers I cannot say.

EDIT: I spent a few minutes on Google and found pictures of these filters in order to be able to answer your question.

What I can tell you is that my factory installed DSG filter was the pleated style filter, P/N 02E 305 051 B.

What I received when I performed the procedure was the superceded style filter, P/N 02E 305 051 C.
Rest easy my friend and continue your work...

That's the same filter set up I found and used on MY2006 GTi..

Yes only need to monitor oil temp between 30c and 40c, so any excess in the DSG sump can run out to establish the correct oil level.
Althought some say 7 litres oil needed, this is only for a fresh factory refill from new or if the box has been dismantled. You will only need to buy 5 litres of oil, from which up to approx 0.5 litres will be drain from the box when run up to the 30c ~ 40c temp.

Great thread slickvic. You just saved me some loot. Since this thread was brought back to life I figured I would bump it again to save everyone some more cash and make things easier when researching.

Here's the part list, as of 10-6-2010, on World Impex. As of today, the a la carte total price for the kit, minus the tool, comes to $123.24. This is using OEM fluid @ 6 quarts. This does not include shipping. If you want to buy the OEM fill tool, then there is a link for you too.

Piecing the kit together saves you average $10-15 depending on the vendor.
