Hey all!
Had some work done on my MKV recently, which included the engine/trans mounts.
When I initially asked the mechanic to include those, I *assumed* he knew I meant all 3 (both upper as well as the dogbone) but I guess I wasn’t specific enough, as he only did the top two. Which is a shame, because I could totally have done the top two myself. I just don’t want to deal with the headache of pressing the subframe bushing without equipment.
Anyway, that’s my fault for not being clear on what I wanted. I ordered the dogbone, subframe bushing and all applicable bolts. They’ll be here in about a week and I made another appointment with the shop on the 3rd of next month.
My question is, in the meantime, will having the subframe/dogbone still shot damage the two brand new top mounts? I don’t really drive much, usually less than 5 miles per day. I’m just concerned that the added stress of having 1/3 failed mounts will ruin the two new ones. Is that something that would take more than a week to cause any actual damage, or am I in a danger zone?
