CSB3: Having A Hard Time Switching Gears To Other Topics

A few years ago, we had a contractor do some software for us and a training guide.

When the contractors said "it is done and ready to be handed over to the government", I didn't even bother to look at it, but called the CEO and said "we need to look at this together". Five minutes into the training, he said "yeah, we need to do a little more work on this".A new team was put on it and they did a decent job.

And this wasn't some little mom-n-pop software developer, but it was a one of the big beltway bandits.

What brakes/pad setup should I get? Currently have all original shit from 2013. I don't want to buy clapped out ebay calipers or spend 3k on a big brake kit. Stainless braided lines are a waste of time yes?
You have the original, 10 year old brakes? how many miles you at bro? deeeaamm

Stock for a little excitement.

If you do a lot of highway driving and have a manual transmission, it's very doable. My mk5 still had life left on the original brakes at 140k miles. 48mi commute each way and on a good day, I could do it without touching the brakes more than twice until the work parking lot.

I got 100k out of the factory front pads. Probably still had about 20k left in em too, I just wanted more bite.

Tossed in EBC Yellows and the rears were gone after 20k, fronts still look mostly new.

I replaced my 10 year old rubber lines and there was an absolute improvement on track. My brakes were kind of spongy when I got some heat into them. I used stainless lines but I imagine fresh rubber line’s probably would have shown similar results.

What’s wrong with the calipers you have?

I have Hawk HPS for street driving and I’m happy with them, the Centric rotors not so much as there’s a slight “warped” pulsing that won’t go away. The original rotors were fantastic and were always perfectly smooth feeling.

Hawk with good tires will put the fear of god into passengers

HP+ on my Mazda sound like a bus but stop super confidently, I'll likely do HPS on the GTI when the time comes.

Yeah the HPS don’t have too much bite in them, still great street pads though. No noise or dust, enough bite.
