Hello, I am one of many who get cracks in the turbine housing, cracks and fissures. I have 3 totally new oem k03 turbos on 265,000 km. Does anyone know why they always crack in the same place? Everyone will tell me that for rescheduling or taking it short on gasoline. Well no, I know of people with those same cracks without reprogramming.

It’s an engineering or materials science flaw. The K04-64 has a superalloy (inconel) hot side, not cast iron like the K03, which is why you never see these failures on K04’s.
That said, I did about 100k miles APR SII on my K03 without it cracking.

My K03 had a crack in the same spot when it got pulled off the car to install a K04 at 112k miles. Was told it's not uncommon for that turbo.
