hey guys and girls,

new to the forum and trying to make a decision what cai/filter setup i should go for? i have a mkv golf gti, so i'm wondering if you could shed some knowledge on this area for? what brands are out there, pros and cons?

i'm not a noob to the tuning scene, i'm well aware of issues with heat soak and the alike...

my main issue is locating a decent product for a decent price! i'm located in Melbourne, Australia...seems all the good gear is either in europe or the states! there is no real issue with purchasing from overseas if freight doesn't cost me an arm and/or a leg! haha

here are some brands i've already hunted down thus far...

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I thought cold air intakes have the filter near the bottom of the car. I'm just going to go with neuspeed.
You're correct. True cold air intakes are called "cold" because they suck in air from a colder location other than the engine bay (under the engine). The other type of intake system that's located under the hood is just an intake system that's more advanced and offers better gas mileage than actual HP performance. Most people opt for the intake system that is set up under the hood if they live in areas that have flooding problems. Those CAI systems are so powerful and you don't to get water sucked into your engine (automatic car death).

sir im going to have to cut in, cia run down, they make a filter for before the maf as well as down at the bumper to stop the flooding of the engine problem, and no matter where you put the filter, its going to be cooked air by the time it reaches the engine for one simple fact. The CIA runs over the motor and turbo, so your air is still getting cooked no matter what. In the end just get what you think looks better. I pull good temps but the only way to get very close to ambiant temps is water meth.

sorry for the rant, just wanted to speak what has been spoken about alot. OP go with one that does not use the stock air box, in my opinion they are just a fancy covor onthe front

I have a ABD Stage 2 CAI and imho it looks way better than the other intakes.
