2.0 GT TDI 16V
Mk5 GolfGT 2.0 Tdi for reference / So I had a flat battery, recharged it, ( only a few months old battery, and first time run flat), and the car won’t start. It was parked on a hill, and looked low on fuel (40milerange), so I have the car on the flatter ground and added a can of diesel
It turns over, but won’t fire up.I did hear a ticking noise under the bonnet if that is any help. The noise has now gone. EDIT, I don’t have an immobiliser light on, and although I have reset the immobiliser, it still won’t fire up. I removed the battery from the car to charge it. (The battery went flat as we were camping, and using the car to charge devices.) All other Check lights are as they should be….
Any ideas?

Update- the issue was “Diesel Bug”. I had never heard of it, but a local farmer knew all about it, and helped me solve the problem. (it is a bacteria that you can get in diesel fuel). As diesel is about 10% Bio-diesel, this can create a nasty bacteria…..which makes me wonder if, due to the hefty price of fuel these days, if maybe more than 10% bio-diesel is going into it??
I had to drain the fuel out, that made me wince, it was a grey/green colour like very murky stagnant pond water, and use Wynns Fuel Biocide. So far my car is running like a dream…….
