Hey everyone, just got a 2009 GLI DSG a month ago with 83k miles and am already having issues. First I was having intermittent steering torque sensor codes which have appeared to gone away. Then PCV failed causing misfires, now today im having ABS module issues, guessing since its an 09 I have same problems as GTIs. Anyway ABS and ESP are on solid, I have this code on VCDS, and if I clear it comes back on immediately. I checked fuses everything looks good so im guessing I need a module or pump replacement, preferably id rather do both. This is what im getting now.

Can anyone tell me or point in the right direction what pump/module I should get? Seems like ebay has good prices on mk6 used ones. Also my VIN is:

Thanks

more specifically I guess if its possible, will any MK6 unit work? If I have the AE unit what mk6 part # should I get or does it matter? My car is a DSG with ESP and hill hold(im assuming)

That is the big question that I couldn't find a good answer to. It may be that most of them work, but you have to code them properly. But I am not 100%.

Mk6 GTI pumps are a safe bet. Things like hill hold are for DSG cars, and only on the better pumps.

Trying to find the right MK6 pump. Do you think this one would work?

It says it just came off a 2011 DSG 4dr. That means it should have Hill hold and ESP and should theoretically fit an work 100% with my 09 GLI DSG correct? If I cant get the coding myself can a dealer do this or is the mk6 retrofit a DIY project only? Its a CT pump and a BG module. Mines an AE module and BE pump. Ugh why the hell is there 150 different abs module assemblies jfc.

Yes. Looks like the same part Fred just installed with success.
I don't think a dealer will code it though, you probably need an independent shop.

Thanks for the reply. Well hopefully everything goes as planned. I hope my experience will help the mkv community out some way so we can all one day fix this BS issue for cheap while VW continues to ignore this issue

Well I don't know why the hell it worked, but putting a Mk6 pump into my 2009 seemed to work just fine without adding two 00's. Because VCDS wouldn't let me do that anyway, said "Invalid format" or something. Tried multiple complete ignition cycles, cleared a bunch of codes, but it seems that the coding has kept. *shrug*

But I don't trust it, because it IS a VW. And it will probably break again.

If it still works tomorrow, I'll do a proper write up.

*edit* for the record, I had a 1K0907379AD module/1K0614517BD pump, and bought a 1K0907379AN module/1K0614517BJ pump.

Great to hear man. How long did the install take you?

I had the old pump out and the new one in on Friday evening after work. Really wasn't too bad, a few tricks learned and if I did it again could probably do it in 2 hours. The thing that took the longest was bleeding the ABS module. Took forever with one person in my small garage. If they would just put a bleeder valve on top of the ABS pump, it would be a hell of a lot easier than using the computer.

Coding depends on the pump, some use the same code and others need the 2 extra zeros. I'm sure you will be happy with the newer unit, congrats! I agree, bleeding the brakes takes longer than removing the pump.

I fucked up bad, I crossthreaded the last brake line I put on and ruined the flare nut on the line and pump assembly likely, fluid leaks from it. I did test the coding on the new module though and it accepted. It didnt save though of course I couldnt do any of the basic settings. But can anyone tell me what line this? I cant find it on any diagrams. Its the one closest to the firewall.

You might get lucky chasing the threads with a tap and putting a new flare fitting on. It's not hard but you do need a few special tools. Might be worth bringing to a shop at this point.
