I went down the Gridfinity rabbit hole, and having CAD experience from college decided to start designing some custom tool holders for office/garage + kitchen stuff organization for the wife. Here's a few pics

Despite just buying my first 3D printer, I'm still in the camp that 99% of what gets printed is useless junk trinkets.
That's been my view, but I'm open to changing my mind. My friend printed me a holder for my map torch that I mounted to the wall which is neat.

That actually came up talking to my buddy before I bought the A1M, he had mentioned going through and swapping all his organizational stuff to Gridfinity.

But do you love the X1C?
It is noisier than I expected, and the test print shook a very heavy cabinet that it's sitting on probably because of the speed it was printing on. I've only printed a benchy thus far but, I'm really, really liking what I've seen so far. Going to be doing some more prints soon and that will give me a good bearing as to how I feel about it.

I think we all start by printing useless trinkets and such. I've been plenty guilty of that since I usually print some party favors for the kids' birthday parties, and some non-candy Halloween goodies for the kids with special dietary needs.

That being said I think I'm about 50/50 in regards to trinkets vs useful stuff. I've printed plenty of brackets for cables, a silverware tray, sponge holders, drawer spacers, etc. My biggest accomplishment (because I have 0 cad experience and Tinkercad is the best I can do so far) is recreating a bracket for a buddy of mine's business. He was having a hard time locating something specific for some conduits that he runs.

But I'll be honest, printing those useless trinkets are pretty fun anyways. 🤣

You can set the speed on the printer to "Silent" and that both quiets it and eliminates most of the shaking. I had an Ender 3 for years that was a constant fight/tinkering toy essentially. The X1C feels like an industrial appliance, it's that consistent and foolproof

@Acadia18 knowing CAD makes them 10x more useful IMO. If you don’t know it teach yourself via YouTube.

I do not. Might have to learn.

Ended up with a last minute upgrade.

After seeing them in person, I didn't want to regret the A1 Mini due to the smaller print bed. And going from $350 to $480 to get the full sized A1 wasn't that bad.

If they had the P1S Combo in stock, I may have just gotten that. It looked much nicer than the A1.... But, $800 is a much further jump from $350 than $480 🤣
