2008 GTI won't start, engine doesn't try to crank

With first one key then all keys - When I turn the key I get normal accessory mode (no error lights) but no sounds or actions from the engine. No trying to turn over or anything. First one key seemed to stop working (again, everything else works - I can lock/unlock and put into Accessory mode) so I used the other key and drove around but eventually both keys won't start the car. Almost sounds like a programming or ignition issue. Any ideas?

Does the MFD show safe in the bottom right corner when you turn on the ignition? It sounds to me like the car is not recognizing the key anymore for whatever reason and is tripping the immobilizer.

no it doesn't show immobilizer symptoms. In my research, I am hoping the ignition stopped recognizing they key, or the starter motor is bad (some say the wiring corroded to the point of no current getting to the motor). My driveway is very sloped so tough to work on a dead car, might need to get her towed.

Unfortunately your scan is pretty clean, the dtc in the engine 01 happened miles before the scan and the frequency was 1. The CAN 19 for Incorrectly Coded module I suspect has something to do with tire pressure 65 Not registered, you could see if CAN 19 has 65 checked on the list.

Not sure if you still have the scan tool but you can look in

25 Immo for what it sees from the key fob in group 001

16 steering wheel group 003 field 1 terminal status ignition switch, 50 is for starter

09 cent. elec. group 007 relay activation, 50 is for starter

group 015 is for the clutch position switch in your case because you have a manual trans off/on

thanks I will take a look, i own the vagcom rosstech cable. I manually turned off TPMS because my one set of wheels have no sensors.

I ended up just taking this to a local euro shop and it was just a bad starter motor - good news.
