Recently purchased a 2008 GTI that I'm planning on turning into a Stage Rally Car. CoPart drove the car to me (from the yard) and I noticed the cooling system had all the warning lights on the dash. The reserve tank was empty so I filled it up, and then realized it immediately emptied but went nowhere. The engine oil doesnt look milky at all, but then I noticed there was this hose that went to NOWHERE!?!?!?! It eventually started to spit coolant but I cant logically see where it is supposed to/ used to go.

I'm new to VWs but not new to cars - I cant seem to figure out where this hose goes or went. Can anybody help? Nothing looks like its glaringly missing.

On your last pick, it looks like it goes there on the right pipe, to the right of the compressor??

It's all good man. Sometimes you just need a second set of eyes to see something right in front of you. Plus your new to the platform so it can be a bit intimidating trying to figure it out. Welcome to VW and the group.

I assume part of your project is a total motor rebuild?
Hard to know what you can save, considering they "drove the car to you", obviously with no coolant.
Unless it was a very short distance, you're lucky it even turns over.
Given their stupidity, you might ask them to give you a second engine - just for parts.
Rather than worrying about milky oil, check for all the shiny bits of bearing material that's probably in there.

She's got 267k miles, so an engine rebuild is definitely on the list of things to do. I can't be for certain, but it looks like the car was only driven less than 5 miles at speeds under 40 with this condition. I don't think it toasted the engine or cracked the block or anything, but I do plan on doing an oil analysis when I drain the oil.
