My son has a 2008 FSI GTI with DSG (trans code KCZ). Car and trans have about 148k miles. The mechatronic has failed and it will be more cost-effective to put in a used DSG. I found a 2007 locally with 101k miles that I can get the DSG out of (motor is knocking but wrecker says trans is good).
Question is if the 2007 will work in the 2008. I understand that some coding would be required, but whenever searching for a DSG for the car all searches are either 06-07 or 08-14. I would think that 07 and early 08 would be compatible since both are FSI and listings are just saying they are not compatible due to the change midway through 08 to the TSI.
Any reference info you all can help with? Thanks!
