I am getting this error code, P2279 - Leak in Air Intake System.

I've checked & reassembled my air intake 4 times now and I still cannot get this error code to go away.

Any recommendations?

Here is what Ross-Tech says about it:

18711/P2279/008825 - Leak in Air Intake System

Possible Symptoms
-Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) active

Possible Causes
-Vacuum Leak
-Intake Manifold Runner Position out of Specification
-Faulty Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System or Heating Element (N79)

Possible Solutions
-Check Intake System for Leaks
-Check Intake Manifold Runner
-Check (PCV) System and / or Heating Element if applicable

Special Notes
-When found in the NAR 2.0T (BPY) check RVUTB: 01-09-03 or 2018919 for updated Crankcase Breather Valve
-If the breather valve is faulty, full engine vacuum is typically found when removing the oil cap at idle.

Have you checked the PCV pipe that connects to the end of the intake by the rear of the engine?

I have not. I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to doing this.

Quite frankly I am tired of *not* having my car. It was in the body shop for over a month. I am sick and tired of loaner cars, or finding a ride with someone, or car pooling. Hopefully I can fix it and be done with it.

If I do take it to the dealer, I'll put the stock intake back on so they won't b*tch at me for my intake.

For the record, I believe it was the silicone reducer coupling. I replaced my entire setup with a new silicone piece and two new stainless steel T-bolt clamps. Now it is air tight (for atleast 48 hours).

Its too bad there arent poke yokes designed for these instances. Plus, there is a reason the service department goes through rigorous training when a new model comes in :D

I figured as much. Hence why I tried 3 different sets of hose clamps and reinstalled it 3 times to try ditch the leak. -but- the hose clamps were shot and I had to order new hardware.

Leak in the Air Intake System came back. I also got a code for a misfire on each cylinder. I never returned the air intake back to stock since I thought I resolved the problem. I might have no choice but to put the stock air intake system back on the car and take it into the dealership.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I read on the MK5 forums about air intake + misfires could be a bad PCV... but I have no clue at this point.
