I did an oil change and on a warm engine just decided to do a compression test for the hell of it afterwards. Engine has 155k on it exactly. Results:
Cyl 1: 160PSI
Cyl 2: 163PSI
Cyl 3: 165PSI
Cyl 4: 173PSI

Would you guys say this is a good result? I’m reading other posts and they say to disconnect the PCV valve line going to the intake manifold, but I didn’t. They say wear limit is 102PSI. 145-200 is new. So I’m well within Spec but I See other people getting 180-190+ at my mileage so I’m just wondering what’s going on. This thing seems to be burning a bit of oil, I just replaced the PCV valve a few days ago too.

14.7 x compression ratio = X psi. I believe 150 psi is near minimum for our engines.
10.3 or 10.5 is our ratio...14.7 x 10.5 or 10.3 = 150 psi (approx.)
Mine tested @ 128k miles were all over 190 psi...191 to 195.

VW gives 7 or 7.5 bar as minimum (in ETKA) so around 100 psi. Normal range is around 11 to 14 bars, so 160-200. What matters is that the maximum difference is not more than 1 bar, so you are fine
