So, I attempted this with my friend and his VAG-com. Did not work for me....maybe there's something I'm missing. When we went to the ABS brake coding, byte 16 does not have a bit 3. It has only bit 0 and 2. Also, the value it had in byte 16 was 30, not 34 as in the post. It would not accept the 3C code and although nothing was actually changed on the coding, I now have lights illuminated on the dash.

The ABS light is solid on and the traction control blinks constantly. When I press the ESP-off button, it goes from a slow blink to a faster blink then a double blink. I'm really confused about what is going on here.

We then tried checking for faults so that we could turn these lights off and go back to the way it was before we attempted the coding (which theoretically should be easy, right? after all, we didn't even change anything). It shows some sort of code that says an ABS diagnostic test has been started but not completed (even though we never initiated such a test). We then tried running through the diagnostic test so it would be completed, but it just loops you in a circle of steps and will not ever come to a completion. Therefore, the lights are still on. It's kind of a vicious cycle.....can't clear the code because the diagnostic test wasn't completed and can't complete the diagnostic test cause it just keeps looping you.

I'm really confused....anyone have ideas/help with this??

Car is a 2009 GTI.

Totally did it according to the directions. This is my first time dealing with vag-com and I was really happy to see that it worked. Pressing the ESP button for just a second or two puts it into stage 1 (blinky) and holding it further puts it into the stage 2 (solid-light) mode.

Just to add more information. Having an 09... my ABS module and pump failed as seems to be the trend for 09s in like August/September of last year (2015).

I had it replaced by the dealer. Part number/revision ended in AP. Byte 16 had B0 listed and I changed it to 3C. Coding was accepted and I have the two stage. One quick press will cause it to flash and a longer press will cause it to stay solid.

Didn't see anyone with an AP revision or a B0 in coding so I thought I'd share since it appears to be a newer revision.

Can you get the complete 1k0 part number from your ABS module? It is probably something like 1k0 907 379 AP or 375. I need a new one desparately and am trying to find the right part numbers! Thanks!
