Hello. I am currently shopping for a car. I LOVE The Gti, bud sadly i cant afford it. I like the rabbit cool car but for around the same price i can get a Civic Si. What do you guys think is a better car? I honestly like the way both cars look. The Si is way faster than the rabbit, its got inline 4cyl 2.0L DOHC Vtec engine that shoots out 197 hp compared to the Rabbits 150hp... and whats faster a Gti or a Si. I know GTI has 200 Hp which is almost the same as Si. So yea im stuck between cars. Really like both of them...

ok for starters....there is no comparison of a rabbit and Si....the Si is better

but if u can afford an Si u can afford a pkg 0 GTI...its only 1700$ more....and if u are fiancing either car the 1700$ extra is only like 55$...which is nothing...u can find 50$ in a jar of pennies in your house proably

on top of that...u might even be able to find a deal on an 06 GTI for the same exact price as a GTI

so u might wanna see what u can do for a GTI if thats what u really want....but if for some reason u cant find one or something the get the Si

duno why everyone who comes on here always ends up choosing between a golf or a civic.

theres plenty of other cars out there worth considering. ford focus st, seat leon cupra fr, astra vxr, citroen c4 vts, mazda 3

obviously the golf is the best but in case u need a 2nd choice, consider the above.

with the GTI though you get great(ish) build and it is absolutly fun to drive! even a 1.4 is fast, imagine the GTI..

Hey Newtogolf, most shoppers here are located in North America.
The ford focus st, seat leon cupra fr, astra vxr, citroen c4 vts are not even available to us. That sort of narrows the playing field. And some of us agree that the Mazda 3 does not have the quality and refinement to be a direct competitor. So where does that leave us for choices?

Mainly because out of that list only the Mazda 3 is sold here :iono:

Yeah, those car's arent a comparison at all...that would be comparing our GTI's to an STI...yeah the gti is badass, but the sti is CRAZY, but its also 8k more...and IF you look hard enough, you could find someone that traded in their gti after putting a few thousand miles on itand get it for a bunch less, my buddy here in orlando i believe is unloading his in september/october, pkg 2 dsg...

now i know why the GTI is very popular in the states.

Yeah... honestly, we get the shaft when it comes to compact cars. Fortunately I think that will change when the volvo c30 comes here :D

We really only have the cooper s, gti, si, and various others that I wouldn't even consider driving. I mean you can get an A3, but why get the 2.0T when you can get a gti?? With the 3.2, it is way out of most buyer's price ranges, and same goes for the R32.
