06 GTI Wont start

Looking to buy a parts car for my build, 2006 gti mk5 I went to look at, no exhaust what so ever, just straight turbo dump off, car would start for 1 second and smoke a lot, this dude called me this morning and said it was about back pressure from the exhaust and that’s why it wouldn’t start, motor had 130k on it, he wants to now sell it to me for 400 bucks... please help out, let me know if the car won’t start because of the exhaust. (White car is my build) (black car is parts car)
