Does installing a down pipe mean you have to get a stage 2 tune?

Without a tune you won't get any real benefits, only maybe like 20hp and faster spool.

I thought the gesi mounted close to the turbo guaranteed zero cel’s? It’s what I read here somewhere. Is that false?
Correct. The new cats that @GTI Jake is using are CEL free.

I love how you people are casually throwing on a DP without thinking of a tune because it's so easy where you live. I would love to put on a DP for the extra benefits and go Stg2 but the hassle of dealing with it when inspection time comes is such a PITA that I'm trying to avoid it on this car.

The benefits of a DP are great but if you just want sound and no inspection issues, catback is the way to go.

I'm still waiting to turn on my stage 2 tube, been running dp on stage 1 for a few thousand miles now.

You don't need it, but the quality of your cat will determine if you get a CEL or not.

If you buy a $600 dp with a $40 cat, make space for the new light on your dash
