Mishimoto Intercooler Installation estimate

Hi. Taking my 2019 GTI to rather high end shop that services German autos. Anyone have an estimate of hours to install this intercooler and charge pipe kit? They said they haven’t done this job on this car but I know the quality of their work on some very expensive cars. Service rate is 100.00 an hour. Greg

High end shop that has never removed/installed an intercooler? Aren't those mutually exclusive? Regardless, it's a couple hours if never performed before.

Yeah, that's about what you will pay for the IC install because it's not a simple job. You're in Maryland, what's the name of the shop?

Harrison’s... some how I have a feeling I am walking out 500.00-550.00 lighter but hoping for something less. They are good people and I have done business with them for years so that counts for something...I hope.

If they have never done it it could take them 4 hours I guess. 5 if they have trouble getting everything to snap back together (some IC's are like this , IDK about mishimoto)

I’d find a shop where this modification is performed regularly. Otherwise your car is their beta test at your expense!

Have them quote you the book rate. If it takes them longer that's on them.

APR IC + boost hoses installed at a high-end (super cars, exotics) performance shop in NY/NJ metropolitan area was $139 an hour, three and a half hours of labor

$139 x 3.5hrs = $486.50

I live in an area where my options are limited...a bit rural even though I am 1.5 hours from the White House! Across the bay on the Eastern Shore...gorgeous area but limited in some ways. Just called Country Dubs...thanks mesaboogie18. They are two hours away. I will stick with the local guy I trust. Talking to Country Dubs did convince me to not use the throttle and turbo outlet pipes that come with the Mishimoto intercooler kit as I'm not going to go up in turbo size...something Diggs also told me. I will sell those two pipes and silicone hoses separately to recoup a bit of money. Thanks for all the help.

Come across the bridge and go to NGPracing in NOVA or in Abingdon MD.

It's going to depend on the fitment of the intercooler. I just installed a majesty ic this past weekend for someone, normally intercoolers take about 3 hours. This one took 5 because it fit horribly, had to trim pieces of the aluminum off to get it to fit, also had to make a bracket because they failed to include it with their kit.

Flat rate for a shop sucks in this case. "It's on them if it takes longer" is most definitely not the approach a professional shop would take here. Book rate goes out the window when dealing with aftermarket performance mods.
