mk7.5 GTI to R bumper swap?

Hi all!

I was involved in a front end collision and long story short; I need to replace my bumper, hood, and headlights. I figured this may be a good opportunity to try something new.

I am curious if anyone has swapped the mk7.5 GTI front bumper to the mk7.5 R front bumper? What are the part codes I will need? I found another thread which named the following list for a mk7.5 golf sportwagen to golf R bumper, the list is below:

5G0-807-217-LT-GRU (Golf R Front Bumper)
5G0-853-671-M-FOD (Center Grille)
5G0-853-666-R-041 (Outer GRILLE Right)
5G0-853-665-R-041 (Outer Grille Left)
5G0-853-102-D-041 (Outer Moulding Right)
5G0-853-101-G-041 (Outer Moulding Left)
5G0-805-915-P-9B9 (Lower Retainer)
5G0-805-903-J-041 (Spoiler)
5G0-805-904-D-041 (Spoiler)
5G0-853-949-J-9B9 (Air Duct Left)
5G0-853-950-M-9B9 (Air Duct Right)
5G0-807-723-L (Side Support Left)
5G0-807-724-L (Side Support Right)
5G0-121-283-AP (Side Air Baffle Left)
5G0-121-284-J (Side Air Baffle Right)

Do I need all of these? Or is this bumper just a direct fit to my stock GTI hardware? Also with the foglight delete (golf R bumper has functional vents there) would I just wrap up my fog lights and tuck them away somewhere?

Any insight is super helpful, even if you had a mk7 and did the swap.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm also interested in doing the conversion. Do you know if it is necessary to change the Side Support, the Lower Retainer and the Side Air Baffle?

Regards

Wouldn't surprise me at all if all of those parts are necessary. I did this on my mk6 and the parts list was just as long.

No clue, was trying to find out the same. I bet you will need to swap everything if you don't already have a GTI but i could be wrong .

I have found these photos of a conversion kit to R, however I am not sure if all the parts are necessary.

I just looked and the Lower Retainer is different for each bumper model. What I still don't know for sure is if the bumper supports and the Air Duct are necessary to change.

Does anyone know or have an idea of what bumpers should look like? (I mean this piece 5G0-807-723-L)

Turns out if you email BFI directly they can do a bumper conversion kit for the mk7.5

Also when sourcing your front bumper, mind the parking sensors and headlight washers you won't want those.
