2.0t FSI AC delete serpentine belt

Anyone know the belt length for AC delete on a 2007 2.0t FSI? Do I need to removed the ac compressor or can the belt route around with the compressor in place? A schematic would be great. VW has too many engine options to get a clear google-image answer. Thanks!

Hey, this is pretty cool. With the belt being so easy to swap (5 minutes), it might be worth temporarily swapping in the AC delete belt for track days etc. It would save the compressor from taking the constant high RPM beating, and might provide better throttle response for rev matching for 6MT. Might also be a smart part to carry, in case you're on the road and the compressor seizes and pully fails to shear.

Can you see any possible issues with driving with a perfectly good compressor disconnected from the accessory belt?

Not that I can see and good call on carry it as a spare.

The Gates is 6 rib, 37.4” (or 949mm)
The Bando is 6 rib, 950 mm.

Can look up Gates.com for diagram of OEM belt routing. Diagram does seem to show there is space for the shorted bypass belt to mount with the compressor clutch in place.

That Gates belt will fit just fine (and presumably the Bando belt too). I've been running it for a little over a year with no issues. Maybe one day I'll replace that seized AC compressor on my car...
