Models of the future are always wrong when you start changing your behavior in the present.

This is like noticing you're getting better gas mileage while forgetting you started driving more conservatively 2 weeks ago.

It's been driving me crazy that everybody is saying the predictions were wrong. The predictions were PREVENTED.

Phase 1 started in TX and some people are reluctant to open at 25% capacity due to being a waste of time. My dad went out to eat like 3 times in the first two days. Went to dinner early once and claimed they got their own individual room. I guess you guys heard about the salon owner that got put in jail??? Right after she got sentenced to a week in jail, they announced salons were going to be allowed to reopen lmao

Yes.

Judge said that she could get off, by apologizing and admitting she was being selfish.

Her response:

“Feeding my kids is not selfish,” she told Moyé. “If you think the law is more important than kids getting fed, then please go ahead with your decision, but I am not going to shut the salon.”

-Early look at data from 100 New York hospitals shows that 66% of new admissions related to the virus are people who were at home, Cuomo said.
-He also said a majority of the cases in New York City are minorities, with nearly half being African American or Hispanic.

It's the "not working, not traveling, predominately at home" part that I can't wrap my head around. What does this mean?

If testing and contact tracing were being done at the level recommended by the CDC which has been sidelined and muzzled, we would be able to understand the progression of the virus. So, yes there is a lot we don't understand about the virus and how it has engulfed our country. Obviously what you see in that Cuomo poster you put up lacks full testing and contact tracing in terms of interpretation of the data. I would like to know more as well. Thanks for posting this.

Wild ass guess? Population density. Even though these people were not working and not traveling, they were still going out grocery shopping and to get food/supplies a couple times a week. Exposed to others in the elevator and stairwells, walking to/from the store, and the store itself.

It's a lot easier to stay isolated in suburbia and have adequate space to 'stock up' on food and supplies.

Yup. We leave the house for groceries once every week and half or so. Everything gets wiped down in the garage with bleach wipes.

I find it hilarious how people are so against contact tracing. As if where you've been is some kind of secret. I googled my mechanic yesterday and right there it says it's been 2 years since my last visit. You can expand that even farther and view your timeline. I can go back as far as 2015 and google will show me exactly where I went on any given day as well as a rough estimate of the route I took to get there. On June 15, 2015 I left home and drove to my mechanics shop, after that I went to work. At 12:29 that day I was at the tax collectors office. By 1:01 I was back at work and from 4:18-4:31 I was at the mechanics shop picking up my car. Then I was home by 5:02.

One of the things they found in studying the other outbreaks is that having just 1 person in the house still working or going to the grocery store is enough to get the entire house infected.

So even though grandma is retired and she's not going out, she still got it from her daughter. Another example is someone in nursing home, who didn't go out and didn't have visitors but they still got it from a nurse or other attendant.

The vulnerable population hasn't been moving around, yet they're still getting it and being hospitalized at a high rate. That's what the "not working, not travelling is referring to."

We'll see what happens where they've opened back up, but this shows that you can't effectively "hide the old people" while everyone else is going about their lives normally.

Yeah, we've already agreed to let numerous organizations know where we are and what we're up to a long time ago.

The people who scream the loudest about being free are usually the ones too stupid to realize we've surrendered more freedoms willingly than we've ever had take from us by force.

That’s partly because they’re offering services that people consider a necessity or they aren’t willing to stop using them. When those new terms of service pop up, you just click ok and go on with your business.

On the other issues of people getting infected. More of these people live in densely populated areas or multi generational homes. So they may be staying at home but if one person gets it, they infect more people.

Nevada starts Phase 1 tomorrow - It's similar to many of the other western states.

I'm not too worried about Phase 1 in of itself, but am concerned people will think this is "all over" and stop adhering to some of the easy/practical solutions that are still in place, and just move forward like nothing happened. Even as of last week, I'd say there were only half of the people in the grocery store that wore masks or seemed to "believe" that they even should.

Future opening of Schools and Casinos is still a huge question mark. I haven't heard any realistic plans for how to jam people so closely together.
